The Romantic Island, the Magical Island and the Queen of Tahiti are all nicknames of the islands that everybody knows under their real names: Bora Bora, Moorea and Tahiti. Hawaii have more visitors during one day than Tahiti has throughout the entire year. This makes it a secluded and exclusive place. The beaches, water sports, sun and fun are common denominators for all the French Polynesia islands, but here is what is special for some of them and what makes them stand out from the rest.
Tahiti
The Queen of the Pacific is the biggest of the French Polynesia islands. It is both place of cultural heritage and natural wonders. The volcanoes are the cause of the wonderful and unusual beaches with black sand. Also, the lush vegetation hides amazing waterfalls. Papeete and its vibrant markets, and lively streets will give you the insight into the everyday life of the lovely people of Tahiti. Paul Gauguin was also amazed by these things and that is why he chose this island as his home. Today, there is the Japanese-style museum, dedicated to his life and art.
Bora Bora
It is no wonder that the Bora Bora island is called the Romantic Island. The most of the romantic travels to Tahiti end up exactly there. The island is full of secluded beaches and lovers’ spots, but it offers all sorts of luxury, as well. People often choose it as their honeymoon destination. With luxury resorts come excellent chefs. Therefore, perhaps Bora Bora is the place to try all the Tahitian specialties like poisson cru or Chicken fafa.
Moorea
The Magical Island is actually Moorea. Opunohu Bay and the Cook’s Bay make a lovely lagoon that makes it perfect for relaxation. However, there is a lot more to do on Moorea. If you want to see the both bays at once, you should climb the Mt. Rotui. If you are not the climbing type, make sure that you visit the awesome Lagoonarium at Moorea. It will give you a great experience of swimming with the sharks and manta rays.
Tikehau
While the white sands are on all the beaches in Polynesia, and the black sand covers some of the Tahiti beaches, Tikehau has something completely different. Pick your Tahiti holiday packages and you can be a witness to one of the unforgettable sunsets on the Tikehau beaches with pink sand. When Jacques Cousteau visited this island, he concluded that it has the greatest variety of fish species in the area. If you love diving, fishing or snorkeling, you may want to visit this lagoon.
Rangiroa
Just like from a dream, this is actually one of the biggest atolls in the world. Resembling a pearl necklace, 240 islets are surrounding the blue lagoon, creating the island of Rangiroa. There is another amazing thing here – the only winery on a coral atoll. Would not that sort of wine be something to try and sip? Another thing that you need to try here are all the products of copra. Think coconut oil and all its uses. Rangiroa was famous for it.
Tahaa
Tahiti is the home of pearls. On the island of Tahaa, you can explore the entire process behind the creation of the pearls. Also, it is possible to learn all there is to know about the amazing black pearls that are produced here. The pearl farm also offers a lot of souvenirs and you can buy the pearls at good prices, considering their value.
If the perfect nature, friendly people and tons of activities are not enough to lure you to Tahiti, there are two facts that you will definitely love: the first is – there are no crowds there. Not many people visit Tahiti. At least, not by far as the number of people that come to Hawaii. Another thing is – there are absolutely no poisonous snakes or insects in Tahiti. Therefore, this place is as friendly as it gets.
