With over 20 million views, there’s a good chance that you’ve probably already seen this video of the homeless lottery winner that’s been floating around the internet since March 2014. You’ll know the reason why this video is so popular once you watch it, if you haven’t already. It’s a video that can never get old because of how heart-warming and inspiring it is. We not only love the act of philanthropy that’s displayed in this, but also the reaction from the homeless man when he receives his winnings. It’s one of those videos you can always come back to, especially if you’re seeking some inspiration. If you’ve never seen this video before, let’s see if you can watch it without feeling a little emotional.
One of the comments in response to this video reads as the following: “Coming from someone who was actually homeless for 2 years, this really means a lot. What most people don’t get is that it really is the thought that counts. The ones that really need the money don’t need 5 stacks they need hope. Hope that they can pull themselves out of this hole that they’re in and most importantly hope that people are compassionate enough to treat them as human beings and not filth. I know this thing started out as a video but this has really changed this man’s life and watch how he pay it back 10x.” The comment from a former homeless man, James Little, shows how powerful the video really is; they gave the homeless man hope.
In the comment above, James mentions that even though it started out as a video, it’s changed the man’s whole life. That’s because after this video went viral, $40,000 was raised to help the homeless man turn his life around. That money went towards providing him with a nice little furnished place to stay in, and also covering all his bills and other general expenses. This act of giving is simply priceless. In this second video, he doesn’t only just seem compassionate in his ways, he smiles and laughs a lot. He gives off good vibes… And he has definitely received them back!
Let’s learn from these videos and do something nice for someone else, even if it’s very small and doesn’t involve giving anything physical away. So here’s a task… In the next 7 days, do something for someone, that you know will go a long way, even if it’s just giving them hope for a better day.
