Let’s face it, when it comes to writing out a list of habits that successful people possess, it could easily be a list of around 50-100 habits, if not more. However we’ve identified just 25 habits of successful people, that seem to be very common amongst the majority of high achievers. Also, we’ve kept each habit very self-explanatory, so instead of elaborating on each point, we’ve decided to accompany every habit with an inspiring quote. This list is a great way to see what you could be doing to be more successful. So let’s get straight to it. Here are 25 things successful people do:
1. Think positive
“Think BIG and always focus on the positive.” – Donald Trump
2. Work more than they’re paid for
“The man who does more than he is paid for will soon be paid for more than he does.” – Napoleon Hill
3. Count their blessings
“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” – Oprah
4. Spend less than they earn
“The rich live below their means, not because they’re so savvy, but because they make so much money that they can afford to live like royalty while still having a king’s ransom socked away for the future.” – Steve Siebold
5. Never stop learning
“An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” – Benjamin Franklin
6. Take risks
“Progress always involves risk; you can’t steal second base and keep your foot on first.” – Frederick Wilcox
7. Save money
“The art is not in making money, but in keeping it.” – Proverb
8. Innovate
“We look for opportunities where we can offer something better, fresher and more valuable and we seize them. We often move into areas where the customer has traditionally received a poor deal and where the competition is complacent. And with our growing e-commerce activities, we also look to deliver old product in new ways. We are proactive and quick to act, often leaving bigger and more cumbersome organizations in our wake.” – Richard Branson
9. Rely on industry specific knowledge rather than formal education
“I failed in some subjects in exam, but my friend passed in all. Now he is an engineer in Microsoft and I am the owner of Microsoft.” – Bill Gates
10. Read
“Rich people have small TVs and big libraries, and poor people have small libraries and big TVs.” – Zig Ziglar
11. Never give up
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” – Thomas A. Edison
12. Follow their passion
“People say you have to have a lot of passion for what you’re doing and it’s totally true. And the reason is because it’s so hard that if you don’t, any rational person would give up. It’s really hard. And you have to do it over a sustained period of time. So if you don’t love it, if you’re not having fun doing it, you don’t really love it, you’re going to give up. And that’s what happens to most people, actually. If you really look at the ones that ended up being “successful” in the eyes of the society and the ones that didn’t, often times it’s the ones [who] were successful loved what they did, so they could persevere when it got really tough. And the ones that didn’t love it quit because they’re sane, right? Who would want to put up with this stuff if you don’t love it? So it’s a lot of hard work and it’s a lot of worrying constantly and if you don’t love it, you’re going to fail.” – Steve Jobs
13. Never stop believing
“All you can do is plant your seed in the ground, water it, and believe. That is what allowed me to be in this position right now. I would not stop believing.” – Tyler Perry
14. Visualise
“I visualized where I wanted to be, what kind of player I wanted to become. I knew exactly where I wanted to go, and I focused on getting there.” – Michael Jordan
15. Aren’t scared to make changes
“They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” – Andy Warhol
16. Always take action
“It’s all about the work, … Nothing is going to fall into your lap. If you want to be a lawyer, see yourself as a lawyer, go to the library and start learning the law. If you want to be a rapper, start rapping and get out there. Live your life as if you already are where you want to be.” – Russell Simmons
17. Give to receive
“Give and you shall receive more. Your gift will return to you in full-pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”– Luke 6:38
18. Always face their problems
“When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.” – Henry Ford
19. Accept failure as feedback
“Every failure is a blessing in disguise, providing it teaches some needed lesson one could not have learned without it. Most so-called failures are only temporary defeats.” – Napoleon Hill
20. Don’t procrastinate
“If you are the kind of person who is waiting for the ‘right’ thing to happen, you might wait for a long time. It’s like waiting for all the traffic lights to be green for five miles before starting the trip”– Robert Kiyosaki
21. Don’t let the opinions of others affect them
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.”– Steve Jobs
22. Stick with what works
“Should you find yourself in a chronically leaking boat, energy devoted to changing vessels is likely to be more productive than energy devoted to patching leaks.”– Warren Buffet
23. Hang with people they aspire to be like
“You have to look for teachers. If you want to be a mechanic, go hang out with mechanics.” – Robert Kiyosaki
24. Focus and master one thing at a time
“One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focuses. We never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular.”– Tony Robins.
25. Stay consistent
“When you look at people who are successful, you will find that they aren’t the people who are motivated, but have consistency in their motivation.” – Arsene Wenger
